After a 35 year career in International Development that brought her to many parts of the developing world, experiencing its wonders and challenges, retirement in 2009 offered Susan McCoy the time and energy to explore he world of the visual arts.
Through her work as an artist Susan enjoys interpreting the world she sees by using traditional media of pastel and oil as well as acrylic paint. Two Ottawa based art teachers, Suzanne Warren Powell and Kathleen McNenly, who have helped her develop her skills and apply them, and have launched her on her own path of artistic expression for which she is most grateful.
Susan has discovered that the process of painting encourages her to really “see “ her reality, whether inner or outer, and deepen her experience. Seeking subjects that resonate, and experimenting with colour and texture, her goal is to capture a mood or a feeling that expresses life and gives it a new visual form.
